Directories: In addition to registering with the major search engines, listing your web site in business and industry specific directories is necessary. Business and industry specific directories that offer paid advertising will greatly increase the quality and quantity of traffic to a Web site. Obtain advertising from directories whose visitors are on the site to seek information about your topic or service. Directories that have visitors from articles, games, chat rooms, free listings or free Web pages offer very little advertising value (they are not on the site to find your service or product).
